I finally found photos that I think go together and mean something to me. These are bright and flashy moments I captured on camera that make me feel something that I don't feel a lot on a day-to-day basis, especially here in Appleton. In these photos, I'm with my friends, or I'm surrounded by colors underneath the night sky, or my eardrums are bleeding from how loud it is there. Of course, I love nature too. I love the sound of water splashing against things, I love how bright flowers look, and I love being surrounded by animal noises, but there is something about concerts and blinding lights that makes me feel like it means something to be in that moment with other people experiencing the same thing. If you don't wake up with a headache, then how do you know you had fun?

This is the quote that inspired me to make my video the way I did. I was stressing myself out because I didn’t know how to use any fancy equipment, and I felt like I had to do something very serious, but I realized that it was easiest to experiment when I was having fun. I “hired” some friends, and we made up a story together that I would chop up later when I was editing. I stopped worrying about my shaky hands and messy backgrounds, and I let myself play. I used my iPhone camera because it's the only camera I know how to use, and my friend showed me how to use CapCut.

Sound piece

Just a group of white guys in their early 20s or late 30s trying to make something of themselves. As I got older I grew to like them, no one in the group could sing and the mediocre guitar and basses would have to make up for it and it became very familiar to me. That’s what inspired me to try and make something similar to, it’s my right as a Wisconsinite. The bass doesn’t match up with the guitar but they keep going anyway and even though the violin doesn’t fit it still shoves itself in there anyway. Hard to listen to but after a while you get used to it like mccaferty song.

 Good morning, my name is Brooklynn, and for as long as I can remember, I’ve loved all forms of art and the things you can do with them. ​ I’ve never been good at explaining things or expressing myself; I’m either too blunt or not clear enough with people, and it makes it difficult for people to understand what I want them to see. I love art because I can make people see whatever I want them to. When I was younger, I helped paint the Vel Philips mural that's displayed on the wall of the old Bronzeville Collective building in my city. I loved surrounding her with these colors that drew your attention towards her and made her glow. ​ I also like presenting myself in ways I want, and to help me grow into the woman I want to become, I can give and take away as much of myself as I want when I sculpt or draw myself.
